I relate. For breakfast today, we had pancakes, bacon and a Spanish cheese plate bought at La Espanola Meats in Harbor City. Cabrales picon was the heavyweight stinky blue cheese of the bunch.
Pancake topped with a chunk of bacon, a chunk of cabrales, and a little Spanish fig jam: man was it good. It was the food equivalent of a WWE Smackdown cage match.
A cobb salad is what started this deep thought in the first place!
Prof. Salt,
Breakfast at la Espanola sounds like a breakfast of champions! I've been curious about that place--read about it alot on Chowhound, particularly about their paella. Gotta get myself down there one a' these days!
La Espanola doesn't serve breakfast AFAIK. I'm not even sure how they serve paella on the weekends, because it's not really set up as a restaraurant. It's a USDA approved meat curing facility with retail space in an industrial park. Still, it's really a wonderful store and I found all kinds of great things there.
