Love Me Some Ad Lib Chicken!

Got some gochujang (Korean pepper paste), Coke, sesame oil, soy sauce and a clove of garlic?

Well dump some on a bunch of chicken pieces (dark meat preferred), mix well, marinate for at least an hour, and then bake at 350 for about half an hour. Measurements? Don't have any. Just a little here and a little there until I know it's right, though I usually use more gochujang 'cause I like it spicy!

I ad-libbed this dish back in college with the crap that my roommate and I had in the fridge. It's the easiest dish to make and yields some tender and tasty chicken; the leftovers are even better!

Eat with steamed rice and kimchee--mm-mmm!

Sometimes the best dishes are ad-libbed, this sounds great - I might even try it! I love the use of coke! My fav ad-lib is making a tamago roll with shoyu, furikake, and green onions....

  3. Back in college, we used to make all of our marinades w/ coke (and beer) b/c we never had sugar. but you'd be surprised how good bbq steaks come out b/c of coke. Pam, like emeril says, i'm contacting apple about getting smellavision on my monitor.

  4. This thing with Coke and beer is intriguing. I'll have to try it soon...heard from a friend he made the best steak by marinating in beer.

  5. Beer in homemade chili is yum too! Now that it's getting cold again, I may make a pot. :)

  6. Say for 4-5 steaks in a pot. Use a fork and stab holes all over the meat. We'd then dump 2 cans of cheap beer, soy sauce, 1-2 cups of coke, water, garlic, garlic powder, crushed red pepper and green onions. The carbonation from the coke also serves as a tenderizer. (I had heard that some ppl marinate their korean bbq with sprite/7-up.) Let it marinade for atleast 2 hours and as you cook the steak, keep basting the steak with the marinade.
